About the Artist

Yuliia “Julia” Manher

Julia Manher is a Ukrainian-born contemporary artist based in Warsaw, Poland. Working across abstract and figurative painting, she explores inner states through light, color, texture, and movement.

She began painting in 2013, initially focusing on realism and developing close attention to form, detail, atmosphere, and light. She later studied graphic design at the Warsaw School of Information Technology and continued her professional path as a graphic designer. This background shaped her understanding of composition, contrast, visual rhythm, and color.

When Julia returned to painting in 2022, her focus shifted from representing the visible world to expressing emotions, memories, and internal experiences that are often difficult to describe directly. Her work moved toward abstraction while continuing to include figurative elements, particularly the human form.

Light holds a central place in her practice, acting as both a visual element and a symbol of presence, tension, intimacy, and transformation. Through layered surfaces, expressive color, and shifting forms, she gives visible form to experiences that are often felt before they can be named.

Her paintings remain open to personal interpretation, allowing each viewer to encounter the work through their own memories and emotional experience.

Julia has participated in group exhibitions in Warsaw in 2017 and 2020.
